What Are Full Arch Implants?

Untitled design (3).png

Full arch dental implants, also known as All-on-4 or All-on-6 treatments, are a permanent solution for patients who have lost most or all of their teeth. Unlike traditional dentures, full arch implants are fixed into the jawbone using a series of strategically placed titanium implants that support a custom-made prosthetic arch of teeth.

All-on-4 full arch dental implants restore full function and aesthetics, giving you the confidence to smile, eat, and speak comfortably.

The Process

Your All-on-4 full arch implant journey begins with a comprehensive consultation. During this visit, we’ll take detailed scans using our Planmeca Ultra Low Dose CBCT imaging technology, allowing us to assess your oral health and bone structure with precision. We’ll discuss your dental goals, examine the best treatment options, and create a customised plan that suits your unique needs.

Initial Consultation and Assessment

Once your scans are complete, we use advanced digital planning tools to map out the exact placement of your implants. Every aspect of your treatment is meticulously planned to ensure the most accurate, functional, and aesthetic outcome. Our in-house digital lab, led by world-renowned technician Jin, creates a custom prosthetic arch designed specifically for you, ensuring a perfect fit and natural look.

Digital Planning and Custom Design

On the day of your surgery, we use Navident dynamic navigation technology to place your implants with real-time, computer-guided precision. This minimally invasive procedure is carefully performed to ensure minimal discomfort and optimal recovery. Depending on your treatment plan, either four or six implants will be placed along your jawbone to securely anchor the new teeth.

Implant Placement Surgery

Following implant placement, a temporary prosthetic arch is fitted to your implants. This allows you to leave the practice with a functional set of teeth while your implants integrate with the bone (a process called osseointegration), which typically takes 3-6 months. During this time, you’ll experience improved function and aesthetics, while your jaw heals and stabilises the implants.

Healing and Temporary Prosthetic

Once your implants have fully integrated, you’ll return to the practice to receive your permanent, custom-designed prosthetic arch. This final stage of treatment is where you’ll experience the full benefits of your new teeth, with a natural look and feel that will transform your smile and restore your confidence.

No, you won’t be without teeth at any point. A temporary prosthetic bridge is fitted on the same day as your implant surgery, so you’ll leave the practice with a functional and natural-looking smile while your final bridge is being prepared.

Frequently asked questions.

Will I be left without teeth during treatment?

At North Cardiff Dental & Implants, we use Navident dynamic navigation for real-time, computer-guided implant placement, combined with photogrammetry, Modjaw, and in-house lab support. This allows us to achieve unrivalled accuracy, comfort, and efficiency compared to traditional methods.

What makes your Full Arch (All-on-4/All-on-6) implants treatment different from other clinics?

With proper care and regular maintenance, All-on-4 implants can last decades. Our use of advanced digital planning, premium materials, and expert surgical techniques helps ensure your restoration is durable, functional, and built to last.

How long do Full Arch implants implants last?

Yes—after a short healing period and with guidance from our team, you’ll return to eating comfortably and confidently. Your final bridge will be designed to handle the full function of natural teeth, including tougher foods that would be difficult with dentures.

Can I eat normally after this treatment?

In most cases, All-on-4 and Full Arch Implants refer to the same transformative treatment—but with slightly different terminology. All-on-4 is a specific technique where a full arch of missing teeth is replaced using four strategically placed dental implants. These implants support a fixed bridge of teeth, restoring full function and appearance—often in just one day. It’s a trusted and efficient solution for patients who have lost all or most of their teeth in the upper or lower jaw.

At North Cardiff Dental & Implants, we use the broader term Full Arch Implants because we tailor every treatment to each patient’s unique needs. While some cases are suitable for All-on-4, others may benefit from five or six implants per arch, depending on jaw structure, bone density, and long-term stability.

So, if you're researching All-on-4 implants in Cardiff or looking into full arch dental implant solutions, you're in expert hands with us. Our advanced digital planning, in-house lab, and expert surgical precision ensure that every full arch case—whether All-on-4 or beyond—is bespoke, accurate, and designed for life.
